SAAC-41 – The 2016 SAAC Convention

The 41st Edition of SAAC’s National Convention will be held at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, just outside of Lexington. The track was opened in 1962.It was purchased in 1982 by renowned road racer Jim Trueman, founder of Red Roof Inns. Trueman oversaw a number of improvements including permanent grandstands, a five-story media and hospitality center, underground tunnels, and an updated paddock area. The track was resurfaced and widened in 1990 and underwent yet more renovations in 2006, creating three separate configurations. Gravel traps and other safety aspects were added to make the track faster, safer and more competitive. In 2011 it was purchased by Green Savoree Racing Promotions. The track currently hosts a full schedule of IndyCar, NASCAR, SCCA Trans-Am and club events as well as vintage racing, club events and driving schools from April through November.
